9th January 2014: Last week, Andrew Brons sent the following letter to the editors of Britain's national newspapers and the newspapers covering his Yorkshire and the Humber Euro Constituency.
"UKIP has objected to immigration from Bulgaria and Romania and its candidates have tried to imply that UKIP is the party to stop immigration.
However, it does not talk about the vast majority of immigrants who come from Africa and Asia.
Its leader has been more forthcoming. He said, on 4th May 2010 on the Daily Politics Show, that Britain should issue 250,000 work permits each year. With dependants, that would amount to over a million immigrants each year.
In the European Parliament on 11th December 2013, he said: “UKIP is not an anti-immigration party. We welcome immigration; we want immigration”.
On 29th December 2013, he said that Britain should admit (an unspecified proportion) of the 10 million displaced Syrian refugees.
Will the real UKIP please stand up to be counted?"
