Andrew Brons has taken his seat, Number 781, in the European Parliament.
He told journalists that the British National Party MEPs did not plan to boycott the European Parliament but would actively seek to defend British sovereignty from further encroachment by the European super state.
“Our default position is that Strasbourg and Brussels have no right whatsoever to legislate over Britain.
“We are not here as total abstentionists, we will look at each piece of legislation as it comes forward and if there is a piece of legislation we can do something in committee stage to improve, then we will,” he said.
